Chinese New Year: Year of Bacon Bits
Come
hither, as we explore the mystical land called Chinatown. Filled with
dancing lions, fire-breathing dragons, and mountains of pirated DVDs.
Spider-Man 4? Yeah, they've got that. So buckle up that "Made In China"
seatbelt and prepare for an illegal firework-filled ride through Chinese
New Year in Chinatown!
That sheet was originally white...oh, look at that knife!
Eggettes. Yum.
We're gonna party like it's 4099
When a Telletubbies stunt goes awry.
Achoo! Excuse me.
Are you sick of this confetti yet?
President Bush allows one troop to return home. Unfortunately it was in plastic form.Lion
Dancing. Contrary to popular belief, most of the time, these
vivid-colored fellows aren't dragons--they're lions. They're usually
seen dancing toward a costumed man holding a giant fruit or a fan (or
your mother). I actually spent a few years in the "Chinese Lion Dance
Troupe" (I hope no brain-dead jock from High School reads this and
pummels me for a late admittance to that last fact). We performed
across Long Island and many other restaurants around New York.
Man with the fan!
Hurray for trampling!
I smell tourists.
Show's over.Deep-fried dessert "wontons"Each
year during this time, the family empties out enough grease to cover a
teenager's forehead into a deep-fryer. Many of the items we throw in
include shrimp chips and these sugary/peanut wontons seen below.
Clockwise from L-R (dry sugar/peanut mix, beaten egg yolks, wonton skins, more sugar)
Pan roasted for that fresh taste that even mom loves! That's the Jif way!

Seal there
and voila! Wrinkly like Clint Eastwood on Oscar night.

In our Chinatown, there was more white people than Asians, haha. Not that I dislike them.

Nothing says Chinese New Year quite like dressing up in silly costumes and pigging out on heart-killing foods.
Then again, that sounds like most weekends for me.
your clever dog makes me laugh. and want to kiss on his nose. can't help it. love big dogs
man with the fan = britney
forget the wonton skin, just eat the filling. Mmm diabetes
WONTON.
One ton.
OH I SO CLEVER.
Desert wontons... Ingenius! Toss a chocolate in there too, and you'd have yourself Nestle's next candy bar.

I love shrimp chips...especially the colored ones!
I've never eaten a peanutty wonton before. I feel ripped off!!! And shrimp chips are my FAVOURITE.
By the way, your mum's wontons are so nicely folded! It takes me AGES to make them look nice, and by the time i've finished one, my mum's made like 10.
No, YOU'RE a pan-fried wonton.

There have been several larger celebrations in my area but it looks like I will miss all the fun this year.
Lol, my birth year was also a "year of the boar" and I was born on ground hog's day, I guess I was doubly cursed;)(I'm a littleover weight, though not as bad as I once was:))

4099 is a clever one. but u would think that w/ 5000 yrs of history, we'd b more advanced than white ppl! ppl never talk about chinese supremacy.

and then back to what SHOULD have been..
just a walk down the street..
