    I always knew I was full of class and good taste.

    Caught on cellphone, an exchange of gunfire.

    Was
    it really that huge of a shocker that he was East Asian? Not really.
    There was a similar incident in the 80's (Maybe early 90s?) when a
    Chinese student performed a similar act. Sick? Probably. Disturbing?
    Yes. Something new? Not quite.

    You can look at it both ways. From
    the sadistic side, and the melancholy route. We have the media which
    supports and praises (not that this was a celebratory situation) the
    latter.

    Then you have the sadistic side*, which I grotesquely
    come up with somehow (my mind is a true piece of work, isn't it?) while
    taking showers or during class. The way I see it, he wasn't doing this
    for the sheer depressive problems the media wants you to think. He's
    trailblazing a spot into Asian pride. Sick and tired of being the
    outcast of society, reminded by alpha males that he's a human
    calculator, and a last pick during dodgeball--he went off in his blaze
    of glory. Smelting the idea in American minds that Asians are not the
    targets of mockery any longer.

    The next time you bully an Asian to do your calculus, think twice.

    digress. Back in high school I was suspended (one of many...). Why? For
    doing extra credit. If the education system left any sour notes in my
    mind, this was it. What were their motives for suspending me? Because I
    drew a gun on my artwork. A week after Columbine. Artfully tasteful?
    You bet. Bad timing? Probably.

    But this was new at the time. I didn't know any better.

    You
    know, it seems like these violent school shootings only happen in the
    Midwest or the South. This stuff never happens here (New York). You
    know why? Because the moment a kid threatens a class with a handgun,
    there's going to be 12 other students pointing an even larger gun at
    him.

    Professor: (Stops reading his New York Times and looks up; head tilted down, eyebrows furrowed.) "Are you threatening my class? (pulls out an AK-47) SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP! MY STUDENTS ARE TAKING A TEST!"

    You don't hear about that stuff in New York. Either that, or the NYPD is doing a fine job concealing.

  • well iono that video didnt really scare me , i grew up in boston so shootings are quite frequent where i'm from. the summer that just passed there was a shooting right around the corner of my house, basically out my back. it was someone i knew too.

  • yeah i remember when i got threatened with AEP and in school suspension for writing a hit list on my art test, because i was pissed at my art teacher. i ended up with 8 hours of dhall. they pulled me out of class and asked if i had access to a gun, if i ever abused my pets, etc etc.

    it's funny how when the school annouced the name of the korean dude, they had to spell it like 50 times to the press. lol bet they had a fun time figuring out which one is the last name and first name.

  • is it weird that i'm not too shocked at learning of his ethnicity?  it didn't faze me all too much, until everyone around me were saying "gasp!  he's asian!  did you hear??"...then i started wondering "am i supposed to be shocked too?"  i dont think it would've affected me any differently if they had announced that the shooter were female, or homosexual, or transsexual, or black, or white, or latino, or etc etc etc.  each and every single one of us has the potential to "snap" anyway, regardless of gender, age, sexual preference, race.

    and it's just too bad that people are giving asians weird looks.  the columbine shooters were white.  I didn't hear people saying "gasp!  they were white!!! did you hear??"  nor did white people get weird wary looks from others. 

  • What's sad is that Cho could have been a member of any race, sex or age. They are saying now he had alot of "mental issues". My family was once held hostage for a while by a person who had alot of mental problems, I was able to disarm him because I had a "better" weapon. He was of Irish decent.

    I'm hoping this incident doesnt make a bunch of "low lifes" target people just because they are asian, and I plan to go to my favorite korean store later today for  a "cold cut sub" like usual ;)   

  • omg i thought that was a drawing of you. it's a drawing of the killer right? neway a very similar shooting happened in montreal about half a year ago at a local college, maybe less than that. apparently not a lot of people know about it. montreal's a very big city. so it doesn't matter where you are. it just matters who lives in your city.
