Dubstep has become extremely popular the past few years thanks to Skrillex and many other dubstep artists. I first heard this type of music on my 56K modem back in 2001 and don't miss it at all. Here's why:

The first dubstep song I heard was actually very serene and melodic, and I thought, "This would probably be a good genre to explore." Two years later, all dubstep songs I hear sound like logging onto AOL in the '90s. I have no idea what the connection is between that first song I heard and the rest of the genre, but kill it with fire.
@StupidSystemus - Of course I didn't. Techno ranks higher because it doesn't sound like the DJ is having a seizure while mixing. Or Megatron with a stuttering problem.
I'm a music lover and I have a couple songs in my music library, but that's because the songs actually sound like songs and music. haha Everything else, like the hardcore stuff is just too much for me. Makes me feel like I'm about to rage or something and kick some speakers and get electrocuted.

@laytexduckie - 10 years ago, Eminem called out Moby in his song saying that "nobody listens to Techno." Even then, that was incorrect. Techno was plentiful... in the 80s. People and the media kept attributing anything that is synth-based and above 120 BPMs of dance music as Techno. 7 years ago, you were hearing mostly house and trance.
@StupidSystemus - Hahah, I remember that song. And yeah, although at that time, I was really more into drum n' bass. I simply listened to it less and less. I haven't grown a dislike for it; I just simply listened to it less. I think I just don't like dubstep as much because of how overhyped it is.
